March's President Letter
Rogue Valley Street Rods put on an awesome Rod and Custom Show this past month – those that attended saw many outstanding vehicles. We hope to see some of them in September at the Fall Classic.
Speaking of the Fall Classic, we have received our first registration for the event. I want to encourage each of you to talk to the businesses you frequent and tell them about the Fall Classic and SkillsUSA. If they donate to the event, either by sponsoring a plaque or donating a raffle prize, be sure to tell them that they will be recognized on the Sponsor Board at the Show as well as on our website. It is never too soon to start gathering raffle prizes. And thank you, Marilyn for managing this part of the Fall Classic.
Our February Dinner Social at the Red Lobster was a great success. For those that worked at the Rod & Custom Show it was a fantastic way to end the day. Thank you, Lori for your patience in securing our tables.
Our March luncheon meeting will be held on Saturday, March 13th at Antonio’s in Eagle Point. Then on the 27th, Grace Peary has put together a fun day for us starting with lunch at the Wild River Brewery in Grants Pass then on to Wildlife Images for a tour.
In April we will see our first Car Show Event on the 17th at North Valley High in Grants Pass to be followed the weekend after with a lunch run to Brookings.
As spring approaches, I know we all are looking forward to an exciting Corvette season. Be sure to check the Event Listings on the web site for what is scheduled. I look forward to seeing many of you.
Sincerely,
Mary Kush
President
A BUSY WEEKEND IN SOUTHERN OREGON
What an outstanding weekend in Southern Oregon. The spring like weather teased us into believing that winter was over but then the cold nights told us otherwise. Friday many RVC members were on hand to help Rogue Valley Street Rods set up their annual Rod and Custom Show which was going to open on Saturday, February 20th.

(One of the many beautiful cars at the Rod & Custom Show.)
This was the 33rd year for this prestigious event and RVC’s second year in helping out. Members sold raffle tickets& t- shirts, worked on registration, provided security and lended a hand wherever needed.
Then in the evening Lori Hale had arranged a social gathering for the club.
And….
What a great evening we had at the RED LOBSTER.!!
There were 26 attending---Morris & Virginia Chamberlain, Jim and Marilyn Pack, Dave and Linda Guches, Bob and Mary Kush, Joe and Evie Wall, Werner and Terri Kraatz, John and Darlene Koughan, Don and Julie Hoskins, Diane and Terry Lease, Donalyn Cambas, Greg and Cheryl Danner and their guests, Brian and Penny Jorgenson and granddaughter, Briana, and Lori Hale and guest, JoAnn Lloyd.
Since the Red Lobster does not accept advance reservations on the weekend, Lori "camped out" at 5:30 and put in the reservation for 7 pm, All worked out great. They placed us in a horseshoe formation, had excellent service, and went out of their way to accommodate us. No one, except JoAnn was in a hurry to leave early (she had donkeys to feed) and the waitress made certain her meal was the first to come out of the kitchen! We were impressed since they were really busy.
It was their annual Lobsterfest (many of us participated in it) and a most popular time of year. This is a restaurant we should consider them again. They were anxious to have us come back, and everyone enjoyed the meal and camaraderie.
Then on Sunday, some of our members were back working at the Car Show. The Car Show raises money for the Child Development & Rehabilitation Center and we congratulate Rogue Valley Street Rods on their outstanding efforts helping this organization.
RVC VISITS EAGLE POINT HIGH SCHOOL

Four years ago, RVC was introduced to the Skills USA Program by Eagle Point High School and that relationship has continued to grow over the years. Some of our members have become mentors to students in the program.
On January 29th at an all school assembly members, Lori Hale, Ron Seering, Dave Stickland, Tony Wiggins, Bob and Mary Kush presented a check for $2,500.00 to Skills President Callie Beuley, Vice President, Jane’t Kabot and Faculty Advisor, Matt Boren. The money will be ear marked for scholarships and for helping with the travel expenses to the state and national competitions. This year Eagle Point will be sending 25 students to the state competition.
On May 1st, Eagle Point Skills Club will be hosting their annual Thomas Ussary Car Show to help raise funds for their program. We hope to see you there.
Antonio’s, Butte Creek Mill and Run to Lake Creek for Ice Cream

What a great turnout we had for our first Social of 2010 on Saturday. We had sunshine and some clouds. Several members took their corvettes out of storage for the event.
We had a great lunch at Antonio's in Eagle Point and then went on to Butte Creek Mill for a guided tour by owner Bob Russell. The tour was very fascinating and filled with historical information. Several lined up to make their purchase in the store from Debbie Russell. There were lots of great items to choose from. Bob supplied Mary with pamphlets for our car show goody bags. Some of us toured through the antique store and the museum. The Eagle point Museum is one of the largest in Southern Oregon and everyone should take the time to visit it.
Of course with Jim Pack involved, we had to continue with a run out to Lake Creek General Store for ice cream. What a great drive.
Thank you to all members that came out and made this first social event a great one
