RVC SHINES AT ROD & CUSTOM SHOW
Rogue Valley Corvettes had two cars among the 100 hand-picked entries at the 2009 Southern Oregon Rod & Custom Show in Central Point on February 7-8. The 32nd annual show is hosted by Rogue Valley Street Rods.
Greg Danner's beautiful 1972 big block coupe and Dan Richards' 1962 convertible graced the lower/main level of the Jackson County Fairgrounds' building.
Over 7000 adult entry tickets were sold during the event and all 5000 raffle tickets were sold. During the previous 31 years the Rod & Custom Show has raised nearly $400,000 for the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center of Oregon Health and Science University.
"This is a great show for a great cause," said Richards. "I was proud to be a part of Rogue Valley Street Rods' efforts. It was an honor to have my car at their event."
Besides RVC's representation on the show floor, nearly a dozen RVC members volunteered to help Rogue Valley Street Rods host the show. RVC members manned doors, sold t-shirts, worked the ticket booth and Dave Stickland even acted as MC during part of the show.
"The relationship we have with other local clubs is very important to us," Richards said. "RVC was happy to lend a helping hand to our friends at Rogue Valley Street Rods."
The Rod & Custom Show was a nice break from winter -- for 48 hours it was car show season again. And the help that RVC provided to show organizers was a great example of the camaraderie RVC
