7/19/2011President's Letter - July 2011
Rogue Valley Corvettes upcoming "Fall Classic" is an event that you don't want to miss and it's our only fund raiser for the year. This all Chevrolet car show event provides the funding for our support of the SkillsUSA programs and scholarship awards to three high schools in Southern Oregon. Airport Chevy/Cadillac in Medford is excited to host this annual car show again which is scheduled for September 10th. A major portion of their car lot will be emptied and Chevrolet cars and trucks from Oregon and Northern California take center stage for the day. Obviously Corvettes are welcome as well, although RVC Corvettes are separated as host cars. Raffle prizes, silent auction items, various vendors, and music provides for an exciting day. RVC has a reputation for providing great raffle prizes and that will be the case again in 2011. It's important to bring cameras, folding chairs, smiles, and a big heart as we support Oregon youth in developing skills needed for future success in life. SkillsUSA youths also participate in the day's events and market many great articles that they have handcrafted. The Rogue Regency, our host hotel, provides the gathering place for travelers arriving on Friday evening, September 9th. We look forward to attendance by all RVC members and to meeting many returning and new "Car Crazy" participants.
The schedule of events since the "Pack's Cabin Barbeque" on Cow Creek in June has been overwhelming. We have hosted an all Corvette Show-N-Shine for the Medford Cruise, provided Medford Cruise route security, attended National Drive Your Corvette To Work/Lunch Day, had lunch at Lake of the Woods, participated in the Eagle Point 4th of July Parade, ate too much at an Ice Cream Social in Klamath Falls, and drove in the rain to Coos Bay for the Pacific Coast Corvettes great event, Corvettes on the Bay. In addition to these fun times, Mike & Gale Barty have joined RVC with a beautiful black Z06. I doubt there is a more active Corvette club in the Pacific Northwest.
This past week has brought many revelations to my attention. "Ms Bling of Southern Oregon, underwent a knee replacement operation. Lori Hale is awaiting your invitations to take her dancing. Dan Richards has finally earned his Boy Scout merit badge for fire building with damp bark. That event confirmed that Dave Guches gets a very suspicious glint in his eyes when watching things burn. Where was our Fire Marshal, Bob Cambas? I discovered that I have no supporting friends in RVC when I bought a 17 year old Ford Thunderbird for Marilyn that she doesn't want. I think the mistake was telling her she had to pay for it. Any one know my room number, or where my wallet is at? Can I be recalled for buying a Ford?
